The peso is Mexico's official currency.

Its value is in constant flux due to its dependency on the American dollar. One American dollar is worth approximately 11.00 Mexican pesos. Master card, Visa and American Express are widely accepted as well as traveler's checks and dollars (only in bills).

Money exchange centers and banks to change any type of currency to Mexican pesos (advisable when carrying cash) are found in all areas.
